This piece has several saltwater cultured premium Japanese Akoya round pearls. Shari has nicely combined the cultured freshwater pink pearls along with silver and blue Akoya and the platinum Keshi pearls. The pearls are accented with smooth and faceted pink sapphires rondelles and briolettes together with faceted Morganite rondelles and briolettes. The hand wrapped pearls and gemstones are connected to a unique oxidized large link sterling silver chain.
Pearls have been worn in jewelry dating back over four thousand years and according to folklore are said to relieve chronic headaches, promote wisdom and reduce the affects of allergies.
The sterling silver is oxidized to add depth, definition and interest. Oxidizing is a process that is used to create an effect similar to antiquing or artificially tarnishing metal jewelry. At btwisted we use a variety of patinas on many of our pieces.
